We work on
We are a research group at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland. We develop computational models of language grounded in insights from cognitive science and linguistics, building NLP systems that handle language in a more natural, flexible, and human-like way.
Our research spans computational creativity, multilingual and cross-lingual NLP, historical language change, and the application of AI to scientific publishing.
Lonneke van der Plas will give an invited talk at the Human-AI Co-Creativity workshop at ICML 2026.
